Zeolite replacement for PSA oxygen plants

When a PSA plant can no longer hold purity at its rated flow, the zeolite molecular sieve is often worn out. UNISSI confirms the cause, replaces the sieve, fixes the air treatment that damaged it, and hands the plant back only when it holds purity.
How we do it
Diagnose first. Replace once.
Zeolite is the most expensive consumable in a PSA plant. We make sure it is the real cause, and that it will not fail again for the same reason.
Diagnose
Check the compressor, dryer, filters, valves and analyser, and record purity against flow.
Plan the shutdown
Agree the window with the hospital; supply stays on the cylinder manifold or LMO tank.
Replace the sieve
Remove the old zeolite, inspect the towers and diffusers, fill and pack the new sieve.
Fix the cause
Repair the dryer, drains and filters so moisture and oil cannot reach the new sieve.
Prove purity
Run the plant up and hand over only when it holds 93 ± 3 % at rated flow.

How do I know the zeolite in my oxygen plant needs replacing?
The plant cannot reach 93 ± 3 % purity at its rated flow even after the compressor, dryer, filters, switching valves and analyser have been checked and serviced. White dust in the outlet filters or lines is another sign that the sieve is breaking down.
Why does zeolite fail early?
Mostly because water or oil reaches it. A dryer that is not cooling, a blocked auto-drain or a neglected filter lets moisture into the towers, and the sieve loses its capacity to hold nitrogen. That is why we repair the air treatment as part of every zeolite job.
How long does a zeolite replacement take?
It depends on the plant size and on what else needs repair. The hospital stays on its cylinder manifold or LMO tank while the plant is down; we agree the shutdown window with the hospital before starting.
Do you check the plant after replacing the zeolite?
Yes. We run the plant up, check purity with the oxygen analyser at rated flow and hand it over only when it holds purity. The readings go into the handover record.
